NAPLES GATORS PARENT CODES OF CONDUCT:
It is important that all parents/guardians review and understand the code of conduct. These guidelines are for the good of our Gators family. We strive for a healthy environment for not only the team members, but also the parents and volunteers. When lines are crossed, it hinders growth and takes away time and energy that can be given to make the best program for our teams. We ask that you sit down with your athlete and review these guidelines. If you have any questions or concerns regarding guidelines, please contact us and we will be happy to go over them with you.
For our Parents
By supporting your athlete in becoming a part of the Naples Gators, you entrust us with your athletes education in the sport, a role that each Coach takes very seriously by completing HOURS of video courses and clinics before even being allowed on the field. We ask that you respect their decisions as a Volunteer Coach when placing your team member in positions they feel is best for the team at that time. As a Coach, they promise that each athlete will be given their best instruction, most energy and best experience they can give! They volunteer their time to help change little lives. We thank you for allowing us to be a part of your athletes life. Please read through all the below agreements as you will sign a contract the first week of practice that you have read and understand the codes of conduct.
· I understand and endorse the purpose of the Naples Gators program: to help my athlete build integrity and character through team training. To provide a program to help your athletes become the best they can be. To give your athletes a positive and safe environment for their training.
· I support the Naples Gators Coaches by applauding behaviors in my child and other athletes that demonstrate characteristics of hard work, integrity, empathy, and responsibility.
· I acknowledge and appreciate every athletes growth towards maturity and efforts toward establishing stronger relationships with teammates and Coaches.
· I affirm my child and other team members when good character, healthy sportsmanship, and other centered behaviors are displayed. I will affirm my child’s progress and applaud their growth regardless of whether they win.
· I serve as a role model for our athletes by talking politely and acting courteously towards the other parents, coaches, all other volunteers, other teams and spectators at practice, games, competitions, and performances.
· I model good sportsmanship. I Acknowledge and applaud the efforts of athletes and competitors. I Support the Naples Gators Team regardless of how much or how little my child wins.
· I encourage my child and other athletes with positive statements, even when they make mistakes. At every practice, game, and competition they are growing physically and emotionally. At every practice, game, performance, and competition they are learning moral and ethical lessons. At every practice they are developing their skills and learning many life lessons about hard work, teamwork, and perseverance.
· When problems or questions arise, my child will present the problem to the Coach. This develops self-advocacy. After meeting with their Coach, if the issue requires more clarity, I will contact a board member for further help with the situation.
· I respect the Coaches placement of my child in their levels. I will not argue, threaten, or tear down coaches based on my child’s placement. By joining the Naples Gators I put my trust with placement in the capable hands of the Coaches.
· I commit to making every effort to get my athlete on time each week, properly dressed and prepared for practice.
· I understand that no two athletes will progress at the same rate, even if they experience the exact same training and I will encourage my athlete to focus on themselves, give their all and be satisfied with their own accomplishments.
· I will refrain from giving comments to athletes from the sidelines during games, performances, and competitions. athletes are focused on the task at hand, and this can break their concentration causing mistakes. Always give positive feedback to your athlete after practice, a game, performance, or competition. Let them be proud of their work. Critiques will be given at practice by the Coaches.
· I will abide by the Naples Gators policies as outlined.
· I understand performances & competition schedules will be released approximately one to two weeks prior to the competition and I will reserve the entire weekend, so conflicts do not occur if times/day change.
· I will commit to helping my athlete bond with their teammates by attending group events.
· I support the Naples Gators program and work to build up all the athletes on the team, the coaches, and all other volunteers.
· I support the Naples Gators program and volunteer at least two hours of my time during each season or pay the $300 non volunteer fee so that Naples Gators has the means to hire someone in my absence.
